National
Examination is an evaluation for learners as consideration of graduation in a
course / education unit. UN aims to substantially improve the quality of
education in Indonesia. UN can be used as a tool to shape the character of the
students. One of the benefits of UN is improving learning, with UN, students
will be encouraged to become more active learning. According to the
psychologists, the presence of mental examination students became depressed and
just stares into lessons in the UN. If we analogy to thermometer of gauge body
temperature, UN same with the thermometer that only measures how many degrees
the quality of our education and not to improve the quality of education. Is
not in the hands of a great chef and simple food ingredients can make food
taste so good? Instead, chef’s mediocre food with special ingredients cannot
make food that tastes good? This means that UN should not become media and test
for the formation of character, enough to provide skills training to the
teacher education course. As done in other countries such as Malaysia,
Singapore and the United States who send and train teachers to improve their
education skills.
The
government should also pay attention to teachers' rights in determining graduation
of students. Just imagine when the teacher has become a hero for 3 years of
education to their students that make teachers more aware of and familiar with
the character and ability of learners but could not determine the graduation of
their students. It has often be found in schools where there is an outstanding
student, but not pass because of the UN, this shows that any time students can
get a pressure caused by internal or external factors interfere with the
students in answering questions when the UN. It is not fair to the pressure
felt by the students did not get a response from the government, it should be
stressed that students are still children who could get the mental pressure of
parental behavior in the home.
In
my opinion, if the UN is the final evaluation of the student's knowledge, my
question is, who is evaluating the students? Government or school? I think not
both. Because UN students’ examined by computer in which students answer should
not be out of the line of sphere provided. It is very unfair because although
students know all the answers from the given problem if only out of line when
blacken the answer just makes unauthorized students answer, what is the use. So
I think UN is just evaluating how clean and neat the students in answering
questions. The government should improve the system in the implementation of UN
because UN is very necessary to be a mirror for the quality education of our
nation.
